Friends in College

I used to struggle with making friends back in high school. I never thought I would have a solid group of people that genuinely enjoyed my company and wanted to see me outside of school. Now, I have a massive circle of friends. Every day I spend a good few hours in the student lounge in the library building. We all really have gotten along well and we all have so many common interests. Some people think we're chaotic and annoying, and yes, they're one-hundred percent correct. We're obnoxious, loud, sometimes out there, but in the end, we're homies. (Honestly, I didn't think I would say homies in writing for a school assignment, but you know what? I do not mind being open with my slang and jargon here on this blog.)

I adore the weird activities we do and how everything feels organic to us. It's not a forced friendship like the ones in high school where it feels like you must be "right" to stay in the clique. We don't need to spend time as a unit also, we can branch off. I often branch off with a few to play pool in the game hall. Sometimes I take a friend or two to the local cafe. No matter what we do, it is fun. Even on the stressful exam days, we help each other cram and will make efforts to chill out if need be.

Overall, I feel very fortunate to have such wonderful friends. I have lots of fun at school everyday, get good grades, and maintain a really good quality of life. I think my friends here have made me look forward to school more than I ever have in my life.

  1. That's great that you have a good group of friends to hang out with! It is absolutely a huge help making it through school.
