As you lovely readers know, I am an avid Dungeons and Dragons player. A few weeks ago I got pulled into an ongoing campaign with a big group of my friends here. Finding a new group to play with has been a lot of fun. Especially since this is the biggest group, full of interesting personalities. These past two sessions have been jam-packed full of adventure, chaos, and combat.
In my first session, the part had just recovered from a huge attack on a small village. Hostages were taken and the party just barely survived. They spent a few days regrouping and waiting on help requests they sent out. One of the requests was to the Feywild leaders. That's where I come. I play Astrid Payne, a faerie sorceress. After my arrival, a few others came too and we decided to set off to follow the antagonists path to try and rescue the hostages taken. The part set sail to follow the antagonist's ship.
Cosmo, a faerie bard, and Beans, a six-year-old gunslinger gnome, split off to infiltrate the enemy ship in a stealth mission. the rest of the crew found a safe place to land the ship and drop the anchor to explore the island. We stumble across a dungeon and proceeded. Cosmo and Beans commit some war crimes and soon join us in the dungeon. we go through a puzzle asking us to give up something important to us on a scale to pass. The party decides to use magic to get our items back, however we must exchange something we dislike. We tried to put Beans on the scale. Unfortunately he was pulled off the scale to continue the journey.
We then enter a room where a mysterious person casts a spell to a person. The mage disappears and we are left with the person now transforming. It's a horrific scene. However, Cosmo is brave enough to attempt to settle the shifting blob. It begins to shift into a dragon like creature. Adrien, our paladin, speaks Draconic and is able to accurately communicate we mean no harm to him. We name him 'Harold'. We love Harold. Maevice, our rogue, throws blueberries into his mouth. I used mage hand to pet him. Overall, everyone was generally having a good time with Harold. Unfortunately the good times had to end with an attack from bandits and mephits. The ambush lead to Harold also lashing out. He eventually met the fate of a few fireballs, a couple other attacks and eventually Harold destabilizes and combusts. With that, we advanced onward and found a safe place to rest.
After our rest, we took gifts left behind from a mysterious person. Everyone received and item that fit their character's needs. We took time to attune to our items and pressed on. There we were met with two guards, two doors, and a riddle. If we answered correctly we got to go to our paradise, if we answered incorrectly, we would see our doom. We answered the riddle correctly and got the paradise door. However, it was only "paradise" if you didn't take anything. Long story short, we nearly saw death after borrowing a bag of holding.
We are finally met with a genie. He wants to bargain with the party. After an agonizing back and forth from him and Cosmo, we come to an agreement on how we can proceed. Everyone, but Cosmo can pursue the slaves. Maevice and Adrien want Cosmo to make a wish from the genie. They agree Cosmo should wish to be able to make a wish once a day every day. It was decided he would have that control as the face of the party. Unfortunately, that poofed Cosmo away. He cannot cast the spell wish until level 17, we just made it to level 10.
That was where the party left off last. We now must decide where to go on from here and how to act. We must also find someone to fill in the void of where Cosmo was until he returns in seven levels. Overall the last two sessions have been so much fun and jam-packed with story and combat. I cannot wait for the next session and to write more about it!
